eight years copy

‘Eight Years, or: Time Served as a Critic of Contemporary Art’ is a film about the discipline, history, and politics of Western art criticism in the UK (and to a lesser extent Europe and North America), told from the perspective of a critic who has decided to quit the field after eight years of service.

Editorial processes, monoculture, conservatism, and the offshore accounting practices of magazines and galleries come into view via an autobiographical account of disenchantment and politicisation.
